SEATTLE, Wash. – More than 2,700 businesses in Washington state reported cyberattacks in 2016 to the FBI’s Crime Complaint Center. Those attacks totaled over $25 million in losses, putting Washington in the top 10 among states for illegal hacks.

WOODINVILLE, Wash. – The need to integrate management of natural resources like water, energy and food in the greater Seattle area will be discussed during the free, interactive Urban Food-Energy-Water Summit on Friday, Nov. 18, in the Brightwater Convention Center.

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University’s College of Business will hold its next Power Breakfast in Seattle on Sept. 27, featuring guest speaker Dick Borgman, chairman and CEO of Les Schwab Tire Centers.

Borgman’s speech is titled “Hometown Customer Service in a Global Industry.”

The breakfast is designed to inform, inspire and engage Seattle-area business leaders on contemporary business issues and is scheduled for 7:30-9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront.

PULLMAN – The WSU College of Business will hold its next Power Breakfast in Seattle, featuring guest speaker Joni Earl, chief executive officer of Sound Transit and WSU alumna. The breakfast will take place 7:30-9 a.m. on Sept. 17 at the Westin Hotel.

In 2005, Earl was named one of Seattle Magazine’s 25 most influential people of the Puget Sound region and one of Puget Sound Business Journal’s 20 Women of Influence.

Earl holds a bachelor’s degree from WSU. She is a graduate of Harvard University’s State and Local Government Executive Program and holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University … » More …

SEATTLE – Former U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker and veteran Middle East journalist Lawrence Pintak will offer their collective insights into the challenges facing our nation in that critical region of the world in Seattle next week as part of presentation sponsored by the Seattle City Club, WSU and the Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle.

Crocker, who recently retired after 37 years as a career ambassador with the U.S. Foreign Service, and Pintak, newly named founding dean of WSU’s Edward R. Twenty students and faculty from WSU and WSU Vancouver will be participating in the Spring to Action, Break for Change trip to do service activities throughout Washington, and learn about sustainable agriculture.

The service projects will include working on sustainable farms in Washtucna and Everett, helping with flood relief in Chehalis, and serving lunch at a homeless shelter in Seattle.

The trip is sponsored by the Center for Civic Engagement, the Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Division of Student Affairs Equity and Diversity.

It begins March 14th and ends March 18th.
